1960s Mary Quant Dress

I was super excited to learn that the Victoria and Albert Museum Mary Quant retrospective was coming to Taipei, so excited in fact that I spent one week planning and making a recreation of one of her jersey dresses!

For how popular Mary Quant is, I was a bit surprised at how few people have done recreations of her work. Though they may seem simple in structure, Quant's 60s dresses were pretty well finished. Perhaps since the jerseys then were less stretchy, many of them had lapped zippers at the center back (see pic 3), and the necklines, sleeve hems, and skirt hems were faced. There would also be a pair of darts at the bust.
